τέκτων / Maker of Things

I honestly don't remember a time in my life that I wasn't working on some kind of construction project with my father, and now I'm offering my skills to help support my family.

Here's how I learned my craft. When my grandfather immigrated from the Philippines cir. 1920, he took several jobs, but most notably many say "Cat could build and fix anything." My father, uncle, and grandfather literally built their house, in Laffitte Louisiana, and helped to design and build the Baptist church they attended.

When I was little, I too was conscripted into "building and fixing anything." Thus, my fond memories of my father all involve construction. I remember making tables, stages, baby cribs, cabinets, beds, and numerous other things, most of which were for the church. My life not only involved wooden products, but also electrical, plumbing and eventually metal work. I'm not sure if Dad said it, but it is my life mantra now, "if someone built it before, no reason I can't build one too."

Now as a grown adult, I enjoy getting into my garage / wood shop and spending time being a "maker." When I and the wife peruse furniture stores, I examine pieces and then go home and make them myself. Thus, I proudly can say that I and my father have built almost all of our furniture, and cabinets throughout my house. Only 6 pieces of furniture in my house were not built by myself or dad.

My four areas of work are:
Flat Wood Work
Round Wood Work
Leather Work
Digital Work
